what is this world coming to

"my name is amanda. i have a computer"

life has been swell.
in one trip to new brunswick, i succeeded in seeing just about everyone i care about in this town.
tuesday was the sit-in on cook for the TA/GA contract. i hopped the path and njtransit from newark and made it to csb by 11:30.

photo courtesy of jacki. none of us pictured above are TAs nor GAs, but it didn't much matter. plus, it gave some of the excommunicationalists a chance to reconvene. nothing like solidarity. and i beat damien in war. stupendous.
afterward we matched our 5 trying hours of effort with 5 quick celebratory hours at the bar (guess which one).
surprising how different the scenery looks in the daylight and...empty. not everyone is rushing to the local pub at 6 on a summer tuesday. charlotte was kind enough to thank us with drinks (I will pay for something someday).

it was bittersweet walking down hartwell toward reid's house after the bar. the person on the porch wasn't zach and i knew i needed to ring the doorbell to go in. a quick stop at jacki's new place on hamilton and then a call to go back to the bar until closing with justin, bonnie and brian. (same bar; the bartender probably thought i was going through some emotional turmoil.) I crashed at lenny's on courtlandt where justin is subletting on the futon with ari. wednesday we hitched over to suzie and alice's for eggs with the ladies and then a brief K-mart excursion. (I have curtains!)

Last stop on the trip was of course at hartwell (figures) to see jollyo. we brought surprises back to JC (ross, gabbie, suzie, and caitlin). maggie made some kind of shrieking sound, as she does, when they walked in the door. note to self: bars close in hoboken before 2, bartenders who promise free rounds might be lying, and those shoes don't work with 14 blocks.

Thursday I was back in New Brunswick for justin's dinner/party on courtlandt. lenny made hummus and i found i'm pretty good at mashing chickpeas in a can. [recipe for hummus: mashed chickpeas, onion, garlic, oil, lemon juice, and tahini]

i've realized that what i miss most about this town are the people. I will forever remember the porches.

smile.

i'm done spending money on nonsense.

internet will be patchy for the next couple of weeks. currently borrowing from the house around the corner. they're coming to install on june 15. we'll see...

yesterday: treasure hunt in central park with lynnerd, to little avail, however we did find pizza on lexington and the liquor store on summit is appropriately cheap. huma played at a little cafe near grove st and jess stayed over on wayne with us. oh, hartwell girls...

back to new brunswick tomorrow for the TA contract sit-in. and hopefully my deposit on hartwell.

setting out now to eat eggplant and finish these resumes. seriously.

good night and good luck.

visiting friends

went to see animal collective at the south street seaport yesterday. awesome show.
cheap sanwiches at a bodega.
then off to an "air-conditioned and dive-y" bar on fulton. danced around to the jacksons and stevie wonder among others.
path. bottles (cars?) breaking on the street. back to the house. everyone crashed in the living room.
talks until 4 am about clown shoes on the porch.

...

internet for a bit. idleness and chats. haircuts. lemonade. jobs. happy jc.

bye
